Our story according to Yanique

The last thing I expected to experience on a beautiful, leisurely Sunday morning as I familiarised myself with the area that I had recently moved to was the warmth & welcoming atmosphere that I experienced upon finding a local church where I could maintain my worship & fellowship.

I found the congregation were encouraged & inspired by the accompanying music that enveloped the atmosphere leading my eye line to the keyboardist who captured my attention.
At the end of the Service I walked over to the instrumentalist’s section and asked one of the guys if they could play a song by Mary Mary (I just can’t give up now) for me. He told me that he was not good on the keyboard and called Zion over and told him my request.

Zion played the song for me and asked me to sing along (I don’t have a good voice lol) but his reassuring nature & genuine interest made me feel like I was a great singer. Zion later asked if I was interested in joining the choir as he could sense my love for music and my vocal potentials. The following Saturday I turned up for rehearsals looking forward to seeing Zion play.

Our story according to Zion

It was just another day in the office, me doing my thing when a lovely beautiful lady walked towards the instrumentalist’s section. I noticed her approach from the side of my eyes but was having a conversation with a choir member. I couldn’t help but notice the beauty that radiated from her face. I was asked by one of the other instrumentalist to play a song she had requested. I ended my conversation abruptly to focus on the request.

Yanique introduced herself and mentioned how she enjoyed the service because of the way I played.
I couldn’t stop going on about the name Yanique and how it sounded Unique. We both figured we had special unusual names. Yanique and Zion Y&Z ………. I was out to impress so I played the song she requested and asked her to sing along. The excitement on her face could not be hidden and I felt a sense of accomplishment.

I asked Yanique if she was interested in joining the choir and she said she would think about it only to see her turn up on the following Saturday for rehearsals. She waited behind after rehearsals and asked if I could teach her how to play the keyboard.
Weeks down the line, we became good friends and I was always looking forward to seeing Yanique.

Our First Date

A few weeks later we had our first date at People’s park. Zion got some Pizza and we sat on the grass eating our pizza and spoke for ages until night fall and that was where our story began. I had found a new friend who was not only good at what I love but also very friendly, inspiring & genuine.

Watch out for Volume 2… The story continues….
